Nice & Sharp.....
.... at primary school as a reward for doing a good deed or doing well in lessons some lucky boy or girl got the task of sharpening all the pencils. The reason this was such a sought after occupation was that the headmaster had an amazing machine that he fastened to his desk; you inserted the pencil and turned the handle and you could grind the pencil into a little stump if you went at hard enough. It was considered a great treat if you were allowed to use it, and if you took it slowly you could spin the job out and have yourself quite a pleasant time. Happy times, but reminiscences like this don't cut any ice with today's savvy and sophisticated youngsters - just as well perhaps. :-))
Many thanks to JDO for hosting the challenge during April.
