The Shelter In the Woods

This is one of several Anderson Shelters hiding in the woods.  They must have been attached to Plotland houses in the 1940s but the houses have largely gone.  I wonder if it was ever used.  
As you stand on the Dunton Ridge looking west towards London, it makes you think what a horrific sight it must have been to be standing there during The Blitz, watching the flames from 30 odd miles away.
The drone of aircraft overhead must have been pretty frightening too.
