Matt Damon movie filming at York University

Vari Hall has been taken over by a crew readying it for a big Hollywood movie called Downsizing. Matt Damon is the star and plays a character shrunk down to 4 inches tall. It seems somebody figured humans can make a smaller carbon footprint if we aren't as big as we are. That's the premise as I've been able to discover. Vari Hall is Leisureland in the movie (see Extra Photos for a prop plaque and other cool stuff) where Matt's wee character lives (I think).

Christoph Waltz, Kristen Wiig, Alec Baldwin, and Neil Patrick Harris also star in this movie. It's unknown if any of these folks will be on campus but I suspect one or two will likely be on set. The film is directed by Alexander Payne. He directed Nebraska, which was up for best picture Oscar for 2013. He also directed Sideways, The Descendents, About Schmidt, and Election, to name a few.

The film is set to open December 25, 2017.
