Fallow deer
in the protected area at Charlecote Park, Warwickshire. The weather was amazing. This was one of the sunny spells, in between the rain, hail and snow.
I spent ages watching the light and the clouds change over the house and the river. The spot I'd chosen was where we had seen the kingfisher last time (and the park warden confirmed that it was the most likely place to get a sighting.) I didn't even get a fly past, but watching the mallards, the birds and enjoying the brief warmth was a delight.
When I'd first arrived, the fallow deer were on the bank opposite, but a combination of National Trust volunteers with ladders, a couple of helicopters and a few visitors meant that they headed off into the distance. Here they are thinking about going.
I'm sorry I gave the impression that my next door cat, Blue, has a miserable existence. He was certainly feeling sorry for himself yesterday and I tried to reflect that in my words. But he is much loved and very spoilt and actually chooses to prowl and explore rather than snuggle inside. They are a lovely family and love him to bits.
