Ancient and modern
After a night of NO very little sleep in the spare bed from hell, and still tired from yesterday's journey, we left for Hattersley. Stopped in Mansfield for much-needed coffee (and so MrMSenior could buy flowers) and continued on via Chesterfield and the scenic route. Lots of speed restrictions and very heavy traffic, and I was beginning to wonder whether we'd actually make it in time for the funeral!
After attending the simple church service and cremation, and before joining the family for refreshments, we stood in the grounds of the crematorium and admired the view beyond the graveyard, the old mill buildings and newer tower blocks. And watched as dramatic black clouds swept across the High Peak, scattering snow across the countryside.
Before departing for Lincolnshire, MrM and I dropped off an instrument with a friend in Denton and walked by a lake with Louie. Fish & chips on the way back, and a couple of beers before bed. Shattered!
