Ruskin's View

This famous view  of the River Lune from St Mary's churchyard in Kirkby Lonsdale was painted by Turner in 1822 and described by John Ruskin as 'the loveliest view in England'. Unfortunately it was so cold and wet today that after half an hour in Kirkby Lonsdale we had to go back to the caravan and spend the afternoon with books, cups of tea and scones. Shame.
