Higher and higher.
We took a cable car up Cangshan mountain. Well about half way up. There you can walk around, admire the waterfall, wobble across rope bridges and all this while gasping for breath as it at 2,600 metres, and we normally live at about sea level. This marks the very start of the geographical feature which turns into the Himalayas .
When we got out of the cable car which had been blowing around wildly, it was tipping with rain and apart from the vegetation it felt very much like Cumbria. Most people wore huge plastic capes and sheltered in the little rain-watching pagodas. Not we intrepid fell hardened Brits though, we don't feel you've had a walk unless you've got soaked, so we set off and out came the sun!
There was a tremendous gust of wind at one point and the cable car stopped for a while, but got going again.
I thought I would show this photo of the gorge with its rope bridges as I know how much LooseCanon just loves walking across them! ( not!)
I should point out that we are only just going into the rainy season here so there isn't much water in the gorge.
