Ironbridge

Travelled south on our way to the British Orienteering Championships to be held on Brown Clee just south west of Bridgnorth. We had a small detour to take in the Ironbridge Gorge and bridge.

Despite the weather being rather overcast and damp we had a wander over the bridge and along the banks of the river. The toll charges amused us as it made clear there were no exclusions and that even included the royal family. Hope they had their half pence ready!

The bridge was built between 1777 - 1779 by Abraham Darby to advertise the skills of the Coalbrookdale Iron Masters. It certainly achieved that.

This evening we drove to Kinver and had a lovely meal at Basil's. Before stopping off by the canal to enjoy some late sunshine. Would have added an extra but unfortunately the iPad does not allow an extra to be uploaded.

Enjoy your bank holiday weekend.
