Minnie and Harold's Amaryllis

When we moved into our house almost 40 Years ago Minnie and Harold lived across the street.  They were an elderly couple who were totally delightful.  They cared deeply for our two little girls and had  a chance to watch them grow. Both were both master gardeners and they were always in their beautiful garden.     We gave them a few Amaryllis which they planted and probably added their own.We are lucky Mary Jim who lives there now loves to garden.   Today the front of their house has hundreds of these bright red flowers which we get to enjoy.  My understanding is that this is unusual for our climate.
