Good Friday breakfast
It's the Coptic Easter celebrations here in Cairo this weekend. I found this sweet treat in one of the oldest bakeries, Symonds. Encrusted with sugar and strips of candied peel with a real (not chocolate) egg in the middle. The chocolate shops are full of eggs and other delightful goodies. We get a holiday here on Sunday for Easter (about 10 per cent of the population is Christian) and Monday is a holiday to celebrate Spring. It's expected to be about 38 degrees on Monday; summer is early and Easter and Sham el Neseem are late.
