In The Churchyard, Aylesford
A relaxing day today after a hard week at work. I managed to go for a short and rather speedy (well downhill, anyway - the hills were harder!) bike ride this morning then sat down and very quickly fell asleep. This afternoon decided to walk down to the village pub for a pint (or two) of Guinness and with the Saturday papers to read - it was all very agreeable.
On the way home I decided to go via the local churchyard to see if I could find a photograph to take and spotted this. Some of the graves are from the 1700s and are covered in moss and lichens. I just really liked the contrast between this gravestone and the corrugated iron that has been placed around the church tower while it is being restored. I'm going to try a bit harder to take photographs at the weekend as they are often very different from my weekday images in London.
