Gifts from Afar

Despite the appalling weather yesterday our guests were remarkably resilient and uncritical of conditions as they endured a soaking on their hop on hop off tour of Edinburgh.

As if in compensation for their suffering, the sun came out as they arrived for supper last night and the Dower House's surrounding parkland glistened in all its verdant greenness throughout the evening.

Jamie Oliver and his salmon recipe came up trumps yet again and if only the hostess hadn't forgotten the bowl of prepared salad in the fridge and the crême fraiche for the apple pie, both discovered too late, the meal could have been described as a success.
There is an open invitation from our visitors to enjoy Pakistan hospitality if we take a short air flight over the Arabian Sea from Oman when we next visit daughter 3. It is a very tempting offer.
