Lake of Two Rivers - Dawn
We had a one night stay on the way back to Lake Muskoka at Killarney Lodge, Lake of Two Rivers in Algonquin Provincial Park in a little cabin for two on the shoreline with our own canoe. The rate per person per night is an eye watering $244 + tax but that does include all meals - lunch or packed lunch, dinner and breakfast. The food was first rate, fine dining and the permit allowed us to explore all the park areas with no limit. In contrast, day visitors cannot stay too late.
After an early dinner we drove up towards Opeongo Lake and spotted two female moose and a baby across a swampy lake. In the scramble for our cameras - I also had to change my lens - I managed to lean on the horn and the moose went behind some saplings. So the shots we got are blurry and mostly of a moose's backside. Luckily Mr T though it was really funny. Later we returned to the same spot and saw a beaver swimming aorund and feeding but the light was poor by this time and again the shots were poor.
The next morning Mr T got up at 5am and wandered round the site to ake photos. I got up at 6am and this is just as the sun is coming up over the lake in front of our cabin. The mist soon burned off and it was another hot and sunny day. Check out was not until 1pm so we had time to drive to 2 walking trails - Beaver Pond and Spruce Bog Walk - before a second trip in the canoe and a quick swim.
