Waiting
David needed help getting his artwork into Inverness ready for the exhibition which starts tomorrow. So after unloading the car we went to wait for the Steam engine that was due to go through Clacknaharry at 11.23 ( I found the timetable) I joined the other people in anoraks ( it was raining ;) ) and waited. You could see the steam before the train came into sight and it gave a toot as it approached the swing bridge and the tiny signal box. The cameras started clicking and it was nt long before we were covered in steam as it went under the bridge.
The Steam Locomotive , the Great Britian IX is a London Midland and Scottish Railway Class 5 4-6-0 ,known as the Black Five. It was built at Crewe works in March 1945, one of 842 with only 18 now preserved.
We tried to catch up with it but a few stop at traffic lights meant we were behind it and although we did catch up with it at Dingwall she was running late and did nt stop and we just saw her pull away.
However the tearoom was open so we stopped for lunch. I had a really tasty brie, bacon and redcurrant jelly toastie and a warming cup of tea.
