Stairway to heaven

This is the flight of stairs to the pulpit in St Barnabus church near Salamis in North Cyprus, Priests were obviously slim as it was just over 12 inches wide. The pulpit sat about 12 feet up, on the front of the pillar, so quite a feat for someone to get up there. The church was built in the 5th century although most of it was rebuilt in the 18th century.
The tomb of St Barnabus is in the grounds in a crypt carved into the rock.
