Coming Home

Beginning the crossing of the 17,200m Vasco da Gama bridge across the Tagus, through the insect spattered windscreen of our coach, after a night in Lisbon with a colleague, who not only picked us up from the airport, but took us halfway across Lisbon to the bus station today.

Bia met us off the coach in Mora, and took us back to hers for lunch. It is so hot! And folk are all so gracious and kind. And our house does feel a little like home. And my neighbour has done a great job of looking after my sweet peas.

Golden light. Storks flying low. Fields of blue and yellow flowers. Powerful scent of orange blossom. Crusty Alentejano bread with olives. Smiles and hugs and kisses.

It's actually good to be back.
