Lifted Onboard

11.3C sunny and bright. Light WNW breeze.

After lunch Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk. Van Morrison on the Nano (Avalon Sunset and Hymns to the Silence II). We crossed the road and made our way across the park to the esplanade then walked round past the marina to the two quays of the harbour.

The Arctic Rock was at the new quay again and several sections of wind turbine were lying alongside. Just before Maeve and I got home yesterday we had seen two of the sections coming along the main road towards the harbour on low loaders. They had two police vehicles in front of them to close the road temporarily and two or three escort vans between and behind. The low loaders take up more than one lane and it seemed the whole road at bends. Just before the new quay they put cones out to stop cars parking where the convoy has to negotiate another bend just before manoeuvring on to the quay.

When we passed the open gates to the new quay I noticed that there were a number of crewmen gathering at the side of the Arctic Rock and that there were men on the quayside too. The turbine section nearest the side of the ship was connected to the two mobile cranes parked alongside. I waited a few minutes and the section was lifted onboard with a rather neat lift, turn, and lower into the hold.

We carried on round the shore of Campbeltown Loch, along the path in the park, then carried on out Kilkerran Road. We went round to Glenramskill today.

We came back along the street side of the park and made our way back past the harbour again to get home.
