Dancing on the green

Alex and I were working near Salisbury today, surveying an area of woodland. We'd timed our visit carefully to avoid the Estate's shooting dates, but when we arrived at lunchtime we were told that the shoot had been re-scheduled, but the Estate had agreed that they wouldn't shoot in our area between 8am and 4pm. It would have been nice to know this a bit earlier! So we had to pack in our planned five hours of fieldwork into three hours - fairly exhausting!

The only advantage of this rush was that we had extra time to spend in Salisbury before checking in at our guesthouse. We enjoyed the exhibit of sculptures by Sophie Ryder in the Cathedral grounds, watched a live-feed of the peregrines nesting on the Cathedral, strolled along the river and still had time for a leisurely pint!
