Como

Weather was very good today, sunny and the cool wind we have had some other days has dropped so it felt very warm.

We got the bus to Como, the journey should take roughly an hour, today it was about an hour and a half. There was a lot of traffic on the Regina, (the road along the west side of the lake). The bus frequently had to manoeuvre past traffic coming the other way. On one occasion we met a coach in one of the narrow sections of road, normally a traffic light should be triggered when there is a large vehicle going though these narrow stretches. There was applause when we got past the coach, there must not have been more than a couple of centimetres between the two vehicles. On another occasion in a single file stretch the driver had to descend and help a camper van reverse to a point where we could pass each other. The return journey was not so bad, though the driver did get off for a chat at one point when we were blocked just before Lenno. These bus drivers are amazing, they find a way when it looks as though it will be impossible to pass, and the buses are free of scratches which is also pretty amazing considering how close they get to the cliff at the side of the road.

Lunch in Como at the bar "Il Farcito was very pleasant. I was not very happy with my photographs today. I have used this photo of a table at a bar in the Piazza Del Duomo. It caught our attention as we passed by, though this is not where we had lunch.
