Hidden Jordan
Caves are common n Jordan. The rock tombs of Petra are without doubt the most famous, but there is also Lots Cave (him of the 'pillar of Salt' fame) found at the Dead Sea and lots of copper age burial caves in the North of Jordan. In between you come across random caves such as this one I found whilst out walking the hounds. Today these are mainly used as a welcome relief from the midday sun by goat herders and farmers alike.
This area is full of vineyards and wine making is gradually developing. It has yet to reach the vintage of neighbouring countries but one or two vineyards are now making some very respectable wines.
Wine makes daily living easier, less hurried, with fewer tensions and more tolerance.
