Today's the day .............................. for Moniaive Folk

There was a very good reason for us to be in Moniaive this weekend.

The 15th Moniaive Folk Festival  was in full swing - and that is always an event to participate in if you possibly can.  Today, the weather was gloriously fine - just the sort to put you in the mood for the superb musical entertainment that was on offer.  I went to a workshop in the morning all about Harmony Singing, run by the amazingly talented Northern Harmony.  We learnt a South African Choral Dance song - complete with actions - such a joyful, liberating and fulfilling way to spend an hour.

The main concert in the evening in the big marquee featured the acoustic and slide guitarist, Martin Simpson - followed by the Paul McKenna Band.  This is the wonderful fiddle-player - Jack Smedley .....................
