This Girl Can

Local fun run 2016. She's done it four consecutive years now, she loves it, and this year was a bit of a milestone one. Normally, I run holding her hand. This year she charged like this photo. She held my hand for a split second three times, and held my hand to help her up a short, steep mud bank. That was all. She held her own in the front pack and kept an amazing pace that had me running not jogging the whole route. She outran many much bigger kids, as she has from being quite small really. I see so much determination in her when she runs. She said to me "Mama, my leggies hurt". But she didn't stop. In fact, she put the hammer down and pushed.

We went straight for a swim after, we'd run in our swimmers deliberately. It was blissful. A gentle walk home, stopping to treat her to a new vest top,  and we watched some of the 10k runners finishing. We headed to buy some salad for lunch, she played in the garden. We had a couple of "down" hours - half a film, a jigsaw, some drawing and we had a very happy time doing some music. She's so loving having all her project work from B for the coming month. She's working soooo hard on her upper register notes and the difference in 2 weeks is astonishing.

She was tooooooootally bushed at (slightly late) bedtime!

Extra today - I love the shot of her running, but we always have a medal one too! This is her first year  - aged 3, just over scarlet fever but adamant she'd run!
