Blowin' in the Wind
A sunny but very windy day. I was pinned down by a bad cold, which worsened overnight, so this is a late afternoon shot from our back entry. Gusts up to at least 30 mph (50 kph) according to the weather report--here from the west. I can't help but think of the winds blowing the terrible fires surrounding Fort McMurray in northern Alberta.
An email comment: "... interesting that the leaves are deflected by the wind while the flower catkins hang almost straight down--different ratios of surface area to mass." (The commentator is an ornithologist, not a physicist :)
