Washing a leg

Daddy long legs or cellar spider cleaning one of its legs. Although spiders have 8 legs, this spider has lost one and only has seven.

They can bite people but do not have a fatal poison. They are known to kill red back spiders. They catch their prey by throwing silk over it from a distance and when it's tangled wrapping it more firmly, and can catch and kill prey bigger than themselves.

They were introduced with early European settlers to NZ.
