Damselfly nuptials
Another hot day here in the east of England - hot enough for the recently emerged Large Red Damselflies to get it together on our sunniest pond which now seems to be more akin to a fen ditch, with a carpet of Thread-leaved Water-crowfoot and a few pads of Frogbit. This wasn't the sharpest image I took, but I liked the composition best.
As usual, I took Ben to Stamford this afternoon, but instead of getting the food shopping I went for a walk. It was very pleasant strolling out through sheep-grazed fields along the River Welland, with a fresh easterly breeze blowing in my face and keeping me cool, but walking back along the road, with lorries thundering past was less idyllic and I ended up positively sweltering.
