Punting for the Camera

There's nothing quite like a relaxing punt on the Castle moat to bring a smile. BBC South East were filming at work this afternoon for a story on the value of historic filming and the punt was our studio - much to the delight of the film crew (and my conservator colleague).

It gave me the chance to finally talk about the location shoot for BBC Shakespeare productions The Hollow Crown: The War of the Roses filmed at Leeds Castle in 2014 where the Castle and moat played the role of the River Thames and the Tower of London.

Henry VI Part One was aired on Saturday night on BBC2 and Part Two is this Saturday. The following weekend Richard III is broadcast where Benedict Cumberbatch filmed a big scene at night on the moat. Looking at the clips today the CGI work to transform the Castle into the Tower of London is most impressive and I can't wait to see it.

Meanwhile I was on site mega early for maze filming with another crew who'd hired the location and then a late finish for the BBC live outside broadcast for the news feature. A long day after a busy event weekend too.

Another early start tomorrow and live radio interviews on BBCRadio Kent between 7-9am. Hoping the rain holds off for another punt ride...Well it's the simple pleasures!
