Old and new
Quite deliberately, Sheffield cathedral is a fusion of old and new - with chunks of early medieval masonry in the walls in the far of this shot and modern abstract above head. You can't hear the organ being practised while Thomas (my colleague from St Andrew's diocese) and I visit the mother church of our host city... It is a strangely grown building, the chapels of St George and the Holy Spirit seeming longer to the north than the nave and chancel to the east...
