Another book cover
This one reminds me of a poster I had as a teenager. We could order them from school, they had religious or uplifting quotes on them, and photographic or cartoon imagery. They were called Argus posters, and cost all of 30p each.
The one I remember had an image of a child swinging under a tree at sunset, and the quote was,
" I want to be me"
Reader, I have managed it. Mostly. Sometimes I am too much the Yes-lady, but today I managed to say No twice, and in doing so, also said yes to something more lucrative.
Excuse me posting a book jacket, but I am enjoying this strange read, even if it was the hit of the year before last. I have been burning the candle at both ends, so when I had some free time today I just took myself off to read.
I have a new system. It's my friend's. I have a whole shelf, and then some, of unread books. My friend just reads one book by an author beginning with a surname starting with the letter A, and so on through the alphabet, skipping any letters for which she hasn't got an author, and then starting again. I was on D when I heard about this. I read two Ds because one was for book club, and I was already reading the other. I have since progressed through E to F... Of course, book club will intervene, but otherwise I will try to stick to it. Goodness knows what is on my Kindle for holiday reads, though! I hardly ever read my Kindle, but my Kefalonia guide book is on it, along with a Jonathan Frantzen book. Maybe I ll just stay with F for a while. I have lots of F....authors in the pipeline.
Thus ends my nerdy book blip.
