Stockton Brook Pumping Station
Day 12 of our trip on Solace. The day was taken up by a quiet meander on up the Caldon until lunch time when we sadly turned round as we needed to be back at the marina by tomorrow evening.
We passed this magnificent example of Victorian building twice once going up and once (obviously) on the way back. Sadly the building appears to be derelict and beginning to decay. Built in 1884 for the Staffordshire Potteries Water Board it contained a pair of horizontal steam pumps These were replaced in 1936 by DC electric pumps..
