Crack

I got into my car to come home this afternoon and, as I drove away, I noticed a large crack in my windscreen on the nearside.  Fortunately it is not directly in front of me so does not affect my vision, but it needs to be sorted quickly.

It appears to be the result of a stone strike which my wife noticed on her 200 mile return journey  yesterday, but didn't immediately cause a crack.   It wasn't there this morning, either, so must have spread from the chip during the day, possibly with a little bit of sun on the glass.

Unfortunately the company used by the insurers to replace the windscreen don't have the correct screen in stock:  they say 7 to 10 days to get hold of one.  They were also telling me that once the glass is fitted I will have to go to my dealer to get the instrumentation attached to the screen (cameras and sensors which operate, for instance, the lane departure warning system) recalibrated.  What a pain.
