Apothecary7, who had been working the odd hours of 7am to 3.30pm (ask her!), wanted to go for a walk yesterday evening so we took the car round to the cemetery on Kilkerran road and parked there. We left Maeve the Deerhound in the car again and went for a walk. We walked out the road past the goldsmith's studio and on out past the gate to the Doirlinn and further round past Davaar island until we could see Ailsa Craig. About two miles ... and the same back. When we were there we saw a coastguard vessel slowly moving along the coast, and on the way back the lifeboat was out too. An exercise perhaps. Plenty of wildlife on view too. Gannets diving out in the loch, a seal, and in near the shore in Kildalloig bay there were terns diving. There are always gulls of various sorts and Oystercatchers. I never tire of seeing Oystercatchers.
More Islay family history research today. Little progress.
After lunch Maeve and I went for our walk. Runrig on the iPod Mini (Proterra)). We crossed the road and made our way round to the two quays of the harbour. We had a wander round the old quay. The Arctic Rock was still at the new quay and the wind turbine sections were being hoisted aboard. I might get bored of taking photos of the process ... or I might not.
We walked out to the end of the park and carried along to the grass area almost opposite the cemetery where there are some benches. I had a seat and looked at the view out past Davaar island to Arran for a tune or two. Maeve had a rest. She is enjoying the rests so much that she lay down on the grass today. We came back along the middle of the grass in the park and made our way back through town to get home. Definitely cooler today.
From the fish shop down the road, tonight we shall be having fresh Salmon quiche. I got local free range eggs in the fruit and veg shop too and next time I go there I plan to buy some of "Granny's home baking".
