UNESCO World Heritage sites can do this to you; sometimes it's better to just have a stroll in the Parque.
Sintra was the summer retreat for Portuguese royalty for hundreds of years, and it is very pleasant if you can see past the tourist hordes and the restaurants and souvenir shops. It's easily reached via a 40 minute train ride through Lisbon's less attractive sprawling suburbs.
Well that was Lisbon and it was great. Highlights were the Saturday morning stroll and the Sunday visit to the Contemporary Art Museum at Belem; but I also had some great food and a memorable Magnum Classic from the corner shop. Yum :0)
