The continuing adventures of Ramesh and Arul
Day 2 and the final day of our conference.. And here is Ramesh sharing his 'Journey to the Truth' as a Brahmin in India...(this was one of three remarkable sessions running in parallel) and how he has now reconnected with the traditions that his father had always wished for him... and how he is sharing that and being the example for others to do the same. This was a powerful and moving session ... showing how he combined his modern education with the traditions of the past .. and how he discovered what it meant to have emotions..
I find the Indian traditions fascinating - the arranged marriage (which he had when he and his wife were 19 and they are together and in love 20 years later), the responsibility of the Brahmins for their local community and all that happens to them, how for example they will chant a mantra in times of drought to bring rain (he did do this chant back in March when he was in the UK.. I have asked him not to do it again for while yet!!), the importance of families staying together and how they look after their young and their old... and so much more...
We have a lot to learn..
