Tiger Leaping Gorge
Today was our first real day of hiking. We spent the morning at Tiger Leaping Gorge, so called because there is a huge boulder in the middle of the river which you could imagine a tiger leaping across from one side to the other. I can feel the effects of the altitude here.
Afterwards we starting hiking up the mountain. Unknown to us the route we had planned to take was closed as they are starting to build a railway so we ended up taking the upper route for experienced hikers. It was a tough, steep 8 hour hike upwards. I actually really enjoyed it but was very tired afterwards. This photo is taken on one of the more gentle downhill sections. These were a great group of kids to walk with. The extra is a view from higher up.
