Rainy Day

A nothing sort of a day, woke up to rain, lots of rain during the morning and more rain in the afternoon. The garden did need it, we've not really had any proper rain, a real downpour, for weeks, and you could see the plants were thoroughly enjoying getting a good soaking.

During the routine Sunday phone call to my parents, I could hear the applause of the spectators at the golf in the background as they live just by the Royal Lytham. When we were kids, in the late 60s, we spent many happy hours in the rough, climbing the trees, picking plums, making tree houses and collecting golf balls to sell back to the club house! We tried to sell the plums to the local green grocer, but without success! I also remember getting stung by wasps more than once! Now it is all tidy and fenced and there are warning notices everywhere - no cycling short cuts across there now!

Luckily, by the evening it had dried up a bit, because we were going round to a friend's to see her garden. She has had a chap with a jcb doing some earth moving for her to stop the sea from washing it away! We had a lovely dinner, followed by a couple of games of scrabble and a couple of glasses of wine. Very nice home made bread too. A great end to the weekend.
