The Hungry Monk

Was sad to see that the Hungry Monk restaurant in Jevington, near Eastbourne has closed after 44 years.  It was the very favourite restaurant of my parents who lived in Brighton at the time. I was treated to dinner there on special occasions and you had to book months in advance.   It claims to be the birthplace of the Banoffi Pie - who knows?  According to their website; the restaurant closed in 2013 and was converted into 3 cottages named Hungry Monk Cottages- pictured. You can still buy Hungry Monk cookbooks - that's an idea for a present for Mother.
