Started with a BANG and ended with SNOW

Woke up to a thunderstorm this morning! It lasted for such a long time that I was totally awake as it ended. Everybody was talking about it at work.

At my Science lesson we talked about it. Some said the same as I heard as a child, that you can count the seconds between the light and the sound, and that each second equals 1 km of distance. It´s not true. We compared the speed of light and the speed of sound. The light moves 300 000 000 m/s and the sound 340 m/s. If you´re 1 km away from the lightning it will take 0,000003 seconds for the light to reach you (1000/300 000 000) and nearly 3 seconds for the sound (1000/340).

So count to three seconds for each km of distance!

It ended with snow. This is in the middle of the day though, taken from the window. Had no time to go out and catch it.
