Common lizard
A common lizard above Burnbanks/Haweswater today.
We have a couple of bird surveys to fit in before the weather breaks. Our first 1km square was mostly meadow pipits and skylarks, with the odd wheatear, wren and carrion crow. Nice to see some cuckoo flower, common dog violet and a native bluebell or two. This must be a control square where grazing continues as normal; not that other areas with less grazing will show much difference after just a couple of years. We did see a displaying lapwing outside the square on the way (as well as this lizard) so nice to think there's some breeding going in here.
