We ambled back into Salobreña today, and walked up to the castle (closed for maintenance) through a very typical Andalucian pueblo blanco, of which this is a picture-postcard sample (extras in a Flickr album). A couple of refreshment stops were required; I'd somehow forgotten that being thirsty in free-tapas land means you get something to eat as well. Stops in a couple of bars were enough to constitute a light lunch (rice with squid in one, delicious little fried fish with salad in the second) -- although we did supplement them with some bread and ham when we got back to the house. The rest of the afternoon was spent on a sun lounger on the patio, reading. In the early evening we explored a couple of local villages which had little to recommend them, and then stopped off in what is already our local -- the bar up the road with free wifi -- for tinto de verano and, inevitably, another free tapa (a copious plate of mixed salad). More lounging and reading; what a luxury no internet is! Talked to our house sitters and the weather is so bad that they asked where the extra bedclothes were ...
