Migrant in Moscow

Named after Apakov

A rainy day today:  grey light, little contrast, always a challenge to blip.  I liked the mix of colours, shapes, lines, and textures in this shot.  It's "the Trolley Bus Depot named after Apakov" a classic red brick structure built in 1909.  It's named after Peter Lukic Apakov, one time motorman at the park and, more famously, a Bolshevik active during 1917 Revolution.  Active enough to have a depot named after him following his death in 1919 during the "Prodrazvyorstka", the system of forced collection of surplus grain from peasants.  I found out that the depot was designed by Vladimir Shukhov of Shukhov Tower fame - blipped on 19 April 2014.  Sadly, the City Council has plans to do away with trolley buses forever.

PS.  I posted a second blip on Iran not sure if it's appearing in the daily blip flow being taken back on 24 March 2016.
