Breton Dancers

I took Friend to Cotehele as it was just a glorious sunny, blue sky day. As we walked down towards the house we could hear bagpipes, which seemed mighty peculiar. Once we were through the entrance we discovered a group of men and women in costume and dancing! Turns out they were Breton dancers over for the Mayfest, their village is twinned with Lamerton nearby and this was one of their performances whilst over. The costumes were varied and I think showed the individuals standing in the community. The dance was just so quaint, they held each others hands by linking their little fingers and is just seemed so well mannered and dignified, and also fun! There was intricate step work  and much smiling! The bagpipe turned out to be a  biniou  and there was also a man playing the  bombarde (a reed instrument similar to the oboe). There was singing as well, but I didn't understand a word of it!
Once they had finished we went for a meal and i bought a Himalayan Silk Road plant to replace my white wisteria - and a lemon Verbena as the smell is just so delicious and will go well in a Rhubarb tart i intend to make!
There are more photos of the breton Group here if you want to see them! I nearly blipped the ladies in their lace caps!
