Lunch in the Sunshine

Once again it was the odd position of the fly that drew my attention. I would not have seen the praying mantis otherwise. As well as spotting the insect I also discovered three more egg cases. These bring the total to 21, not counting the one that mysteriously disappeared.

Last night the nor’wester was brought to a sudden halt by a southerly squall that lasted only a short while, but it brought a drop in the temperature. Although today was calm and sunny, for the first time, there was a chill of winter in the air. The mountains stood out with a light dusting of snow.
