MotherShip
Spent an hour this morning at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. Tara, her best dog friend Nube, Nube's mom and I walked the paths taking in the sights. We saw a small grey bunny, which wasn't a native rabbit and was probably dropped off by a college student who was on their way out of town for the summer. Sadly many 'pets' are left by students as they move on with their lives. Most, thankfully, are left at one of the many shelters in our area, of course majorly overburdening those place of refuge. The bunny will probably end up as some predator's dinner. None of which is fair but That is Life. The photo of the plant at bottom right was included for TinyTuesday. This is a leaf of a plant known as 'Mother of Millions'. MOM is native to Madagascar and is used around the world as an ornamental. Unfortunately upon 'escape' it spreads quickly and often naturalizes . It is Very Toxic to live stock and also to pets. Each one of the Tiny Plantlets on this leaf is easily knocked off and grows into another plant. Nice looking plant but can be devastating to the livestock industry. The yellow cactus flower is just pretty so I though I'd include it. The Serpent is most likely a Garter or Ribbon Snake. I couldn't make a definite ID. It was just crossing the path in front of us, so of course I had to share it with you. Sorry if you're frightened of snakes. This one is totally harmless. And if you look Very Closely you can see my reflection in her eye. Hahaha, not really! All these photos were taken with my iPhone. Sometimes I just don't appreciate the quality of photos those little gadgets can take. :)
