The 'German' Rose

We have two roses trained around the homemade arch in the garden.

One red and one yellow.

When our German friends were here some years ago, the yellow rose was out and in neat bloom, while the red was 'lazy' and a bit scruffy. They joked that the yellow rose is the model of German efficiency and the red rose like the English. From then on, we always refer to our yellow rose as the German rose.

Anyway, it is the only rose on the bushes to be flowering now and very handsome.
