Nine Mile Canyon - Part 2
I haven't had many moments to keep up with blip lately because we hit the ground running and have the June show to organize, design promo packages, advertise, distribute materials and the hundreds of other chores entailed...plus put in the gardens yadda yadda yadda. So, one day I'll catch up.
Meanwhile, enjoy more petroglyphs from Nine Mile. the first is "The Big Buffalo". The first in extras has some very unusual images not found in any other places. Usually, you'll find a design or pattern similar in other areas but these are singular and appear to be older. Must study more. I'm near a very large horse way up on a canyon wall. It's size helps it to be seen from far below. MiKi is looking at several images under an overhang that was used as a camping spot. The rocks that fell down from higher up had definite smoke charring. You can see the game was abundant here....mountain goats, elk, deer are etched most frequently.
Since there is no written history, archeologists dare not summarize what they think these images mean. We, however, can imagine our own stories of what these all mean....."We stayed here 14 days and killed 7 goats" or "What is a buffalo doing in this canyon?"
I love this stuff....
