Grass and Rock
The light was beautiful this morning which inspired me to try for something a little different in a place I go several times a week. There were lots of possibilities for photos...ripples, geese with their gangly teenage goslings, a distant red fishing boat, the shadows of the tables and chairs set out on the beach for the opening of the restaurant in a few days, and the cheerful old fellow with his crash helmet and walker setting out for his daily walk, but in the end I liked the simplicity of grass, rock and light.
We're having raptor v raven wars around here. The ravens have a nest in one of our oak trees and have been going through the suet cakes at the rate of one a day. They have perfected a method of getting what they need out of it even though they can't perch on it. It involves a lot of jumping and flapping. The fledglings are getting quite loud and rambunctious and make a sound like a crying baby. The hawks are nesting in the eucalyptus trees in the neighbors' yard and have their eye on the raven nest. The ravens have been successfully driving the hawks away, but the battles are taking place right in front of our house. High drama here on Wildwood Trail..
