Caught by the flash

I first saw this quite some time ago, as I was running up Richmond Road to the corner with Surrey Crescent. I forgot about it, in large part because I more often run the opposite way, and don't see it.

This is painted on a broken concrete block wall, behind which is a wire netting fence. Having seen it again a few days ago, I deliberately stopped on my run this morning. It was very murky light. One of those days where there is so much moisture in the air it almost oozes into you. Late enough to be daylight; cloudy enough to need the flash.

Unsigned and I couldn't find any significant information about it. Looks a little like an Australian possum, and a local blogger included a photograph of it but without further identifying it.

Large is good
