Red Squirrel in Vermont

We're visiting old friends in Vermont, in the countryside northeast of Burlington, not far from Canada.  They have a superb house and grounds, with a wrap-around porch that provides good bird and squirrel watching.  This fellow climbed briefly into the lilac bushes nearby, obviously to get a good look at me. He's distinctly smaller than the grey squirrels which we have in Massachusetts, as here.  There's a local bird walk early tomorrow morning, which we're looking forward to.
