Archimedes

Mathematician, Physicist, Inventor, Engineer ..... One of the greats of classical antiquity, he lived in Syracuse, when it was part of Magna Graecia.

This statue seems to suggest he invented the shaving mirror, as a sideline from being the first to achieve an accurate calculation of pi.

We've had a bit of a cultural day, latterly worn out by the (wonderful) Archaeological museum. There are only so many pots one can take in at a time.

One of the things I enjoy on holiday is people watching. Being able to sit and watch the world go by is great. And the number of people carrying selfie sticks grows every year. Some have the art of posing down to a tee. Some - I am in this camp - are not quite so good at it.
