Birthday Party
Will had his first lesson on his big violin and did quite well, or so it sounded. He is ridiculously excited about going to Strings day on Friday and Ros introduced him to some of the music today. He will be in the thirds of the middle ability orchestra and his challenge will be counting the rests rather than playing the music I think, particularly as we can practice the music during the coming week.
The rest of the day was spent waiting for the main event, Carys's party. (She wasn't meant to have a party this year, but before Christmas she had some typical year four friends issues. When we were trying to choose around three friends to do something with it became apparent to Mummy and Daddy that this was causing much angst and she was worried about offending people and that leading more problems. Hence we increased the size of her party. She knows why we did this and she isn't expecting the same next year, but she was mightily relieved not to have to narrow her friends down too much.) So she had a great party, painting pottery and eating pizza. This is her having her handprint taken for a memento plate with her handprint and everyone else's thumbprints on it.
